Q: What is Remy hair? [Hide]
Remy Hair is human hair that is collected directly from a single hair donor. It is the softest and most natural hair on the market. The majority of human hair sold in the industry is non-cuticle hair where the hair cuticle has been stripped using an acid-bath. Remy hair has its cuticle intact, therefore the hair is stronger. This also prevents tangling which means it lasts longer. Our Remy hair is 100% cuticle correct (root to tip) and has been processed leaving the cuticle intact to prolong the life of the hair. The Remy hair is bundled so that the roots of the hair are on one side and the tip of the hair on the opposite side. Since all of the hairs are placed in the same direction, the hairs remain undisturbed, making them more durable

Q: Can I put the wig on myself or should I consult my stylist? [Hide]
Lace wigs are professional products and are intended for use by individuals trained in the application of such products. It is advisable to use a hair stylist the first time you wear your wig, however it is not that difficult to do yourself but getting it right will require time and patience. With practice, you should be able to apply the wig yourself. Please see our attachment directions on the Wigs attachment page. Please be sure to read the directions thoroughly before attempting to attach or remove your wig yourself

Lace wigs can be worn by anyone - both young and old. Individuals with hereditary hair loss or medical conditions resulting in hair loss may find a lace wig a good choice. Q: Can you tell that it's a wig? [Show]
-
Q: Can you tell that it's a wig? [Hide]
A properly applied lace wig creates a flawless hairline making it undetectable. The wig is glued to the entire outside perimeter of your head and because the lace used is so thin it blends into the natural hairline producing an undetectable look

-
Q: Can I style the wig myself? [Hide]
Lace wigs can be styled just like regular hair. You can dye it, set it, blow dry it, hot curl it, etc. Full lace wigs are designed to blend along the hairline - front and back. You can wear your wig in a ponytail or any other up to date style. Lace front wigs can be pulled back for off-the-face styles

-
Q: How is the wig designed? [Hide]
All of our wigs are hand made using very thin lace. The individual strands of Remy Hair are then carefully hand-tied into the lace and double knotted to prevent shedding. Wigs can be ventilated to whatever density you choose

-
Q: How is the cap constructed? [Hide]
Lace wigs can be made in several different cap types.
Cap options for lace wigs include:
Full lace - wig needs to be measured very carefully as there is no flexibility for adjustment. Suited to individuals who are completely bald. The wig can be worn in a ponytail.
Full lace with ear to ear stretch - cap stretches from ear to ear, and can be worn in a ponytail.
Full lace with stretch from crown to nape - cap stretches from crown to nape, this can not be worn in a ponytail
Lace with thin skin around perimeter is not advisable for warmer climates

Q: What type of lace is used? [Show]
-
Q: What type of lace is used? [Hide]
Our wigs are only made using French or Swiss lace. They have the option of having thin “skin” around the perimeter. The “skin” is made out of a synthetic material called polyurethane. Although it is durable, it can be uncomfortable to wear in warm climates because it doesn’t provide sufficient ventilation. We also construct our wig caps using monofilament caps. These are mesh caps made from nylon or polyester which can also provide a natural look. A monofilament (single strand) thread is woven, much like a tennis racquet, to create the mesh. It may however have a shorter life span because they are very delicate and tear easily. They are vulnerable to body acids which can cause them to deteriorate or eventually damage them

Q: What is the difference between French and Swiss lace? [Show]
-
Q: What is the difference between French and Swiss lace? [Hide]
French Lace is more durable and will hold up better over the long run while Swiss lace is slightly thinner, however it is less durable and rips easier. Both are undetectable

Q: What colour is the lace? [Show]
-
Q: What colour is the lace? [Hide]
Lace wigs are constructed with a freestyle part (can be parted anywhere). The lace allows the colour of the natural scalp to come through. For this reason, you should select a lace colour closest to the colour of your natural scalp.
Lace colour guidelines:
Transparent: for people with white, very light or cream scalp tones
Light brown: for people with light beige or beige scalp tones
Medium brown: for people with light brown scalp tones
Dark brown: for people with dark brown scalp tones

Q: What are knots? [Show]
-
Q: What are knots? [Hide]
A knot is the tie that holds the hair to the cap. A single knot is mainly used around the perimeter or the front of the wig. This allows the wig to blend more easily into the hairline. Double knots are a bit thicker and can be used at the top and back of the wig.
Sealing the knots is recommended to extend the life of the wig and prevent excessive shedding. Each strand of hair is hand-tied into the lace at the base of the cap. When these knots are bleached, they give the impression that the hair is growing out of the scalp. The "bleached knots" option is highly recommend for darker hair colours

Baby hair is the fine hair that grows naturally along the hairline. You may order your custom lace wig with or without this option. The baby hairs along the hairline give an even more natural look

Q: How is the wig attached? [Show]
-
Q: How is the wig attached? [Hide]
The lace wig cap is applied with a special adhesive or tape that is safe for human skin. The adhesive product secures the lace wig along the hairline. The adhesive disappears into the lace front and creates the illusion of hair growing directly out of the scalp. The adhesive is not used directly on the hair. Please see the Wig attachment page

-
Q: How long will the adhesive hold? [Hide]
Different types of adhesives produce different results. Adhesives are generally designed for short or long holds. A short hold adhesive can be used for daily wear while a long hold adhesive is designed to last for up to six weeks. Your skin type will also determine what kind of adhesive you should use. As an example oily skin requires a certain type of adhesive as it produces oil which breaks down normal adhesives weakening the bond

Six specific head measurements are required. The illustration on the Measurements page shows you the areas you need to measure. Your wig will be made to your exact specifications. If your head measurements are not accurate you might experience problems with the fit. We recommend you have a friend help you with your head measurements. Using a measuring tape, measure your head at least four times to make sure your measurements are accurate. Never take your measurements while you have a wig on or have braids in your hair
